32 Years Behind The Wheel
I’m John — founder and head trainer at Gold Coast Truck Driving School. I’ve spent over 32 years behind the wheel of everything from local delivery trucks to FIFO road trains and interstate B-Doubles.
Driving has been in my blood for generations — my dad drove B-Doubles until he was 72, and now my own kids drive too. That legacy is what inspired me to start this school: to teach the next generation of truck drivers the right way.
Why I Started This School
After decades on the road, I saw too many new drivers being pushed through tests by instructors with no industry experience. I became a qualified Trainer/Assessor because I believe drivers deserve better — real-world training, not just textbook instruction.
I specialise in Crash Box/manual gearbox training — because I know that's what most companies still expect. I’ve spent years refining my method, and there's nothing better than seeing a student go from stalling to shifting gears with total confidence.
