WHAT CAN I DRIVE WITH A HC LICENCE?
A HC vehicle is a truck, prime mover or mobile crane with a trailer of more than 9 tonne Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM). A HC licence covers you to drive trucks with a single trailer (commonly known as semi-trailers). This includes prime movers, truck and dogs, pig trailers, floats and low loaders.
To be eligible for your Queensland HC truck licence, you must have held a Medium Rigid (MR) or Heavy Rigid (HR) Licence for at least 12 months.
If you currently hold an unconditional MR or HR Licence, obtaining a HC can be a relatively simple process. The Department of Transport and Main Roads permit you to use an automatic truck to tow the trailer and you will end up with an unconditional HC Licence. Demonstration of Road Ranger / Crash gearbox is not necessary as you already hold this licence.
HC LICENCE CONDITIONS
There are 3 types of Heavy Combination Licence – these are different because of their conditions (gearbox restrictions).
-

-
